The past week has been relatively insane. Faith caught the flu bug and as predicted, passed it to her little brother.
Faith's illness is as normal... In fact, this time, it is considerably mild as it didnt hit her lungs. She was just having a bad throat and a bit of runny nose...
We have visited the doctor thrice to get them cured.... Tried out the paediatrician at Tampines street 11, but she didnt suit our needs.
Firstly, we have to pay in cash, which is a MAJOR drawback for us!! Secondly, the doctor didnt pay heed to Faith's usual symptoms and medication and gave what she felt was suitable, which of course, DIDNT work! I agree that she is the professional and that we ought to listen to her.....but this daughter of ours has fallen ill enough for us to know what works and what doesnt....
So, we have decided to stick with their paediatrician at Thomson, where everyone knows us, and where we can use their CDA to pay for their treatment. The CDA is an account where the govt tops up every dollar that u save for your child till a max of 6000. This account lasts till they are 6 and can only be used via Nets at approved healthcare and childcare institutions. Since its a given, we might as well use it and make it less painful on our pockets!!
So anyway, 3 days after our first visit to the doc at Tampines, Josiah caught his sister's flu. The poor boy was terribly congested, so much so that he had difficulty breathing. Faith was also getting worse despite the medicine from the other doctor. We decided not to wait and to return to Thomson. Josiah had very thick mucus, and they had to suck it out for him. Thankfully though, it was clear and hadnt hit his lungs yet. We were given nose drops and antihistamine for the boy, and told to return in 3 days if he didnt get better. Faith got an antibiotic for her throat and cough medicine.
Sadly though, Josiah's mucus turned greenish, which isn't a good sign. We returned once more, and this time, were given antibiotics.
Sigh.... I feel like a nurse.... Serving them cocktails of medicine and remembering medication times.... Thankfully, Faith is recovering and is only on her antibiotics now. The boy is still havig a running nose but he is definitely not as congested as before. It doesnt help that CNY is looming around the corner and with the reunion dinners to go for too!! This year's CNY is gonna be tiring, esp since Robin is gonna be on night shift on 除夕. We'll just have to time our visits well so as not to overtire everyone!!
