*.* Mummy and Daddy's Note to US *.*

May today there be peace within.

May yoiu trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of Faith.

May you use those gifts you have received,

And pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be content knowing you are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into your heart,

And allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

*.* June..... the most eventful month thus far...... *.*

Almost a month ago, I blogged about how Josiah was going to start school. Along with the promise of him going to school was the promise of some freedom for both myself and the hubby. We had started thinking about what we would want to do whilst the kids were at school, and I was glad to be able to have some ME time in the day to exercise or just to do things that I liked.

But as the saying goes, don't count your chickens before they are hatched!

June has turned out to be an insanely crazy month.

Josiah went to school on the 1st of June. It being his first experience, we chose to stay by his side, fed him, ad only left for a quick lunch after he slept. He interacted a little bit with his peers, but wouldn't leave our side. He managed tosleep in his new environment though, and honestly, did rather well for a first day.

That very night, Faith developed a fever, and we noticed spots appearing on her rear and wrist. We didn't know what it was, and I started searching the Net, but I couldn't confirm anything. The next morning, I brought her to the GP. More spots had appeared on her knees and other wrist. The GP could not confirm anything, but said it could be HFMD.

We were scared out of our lives. That very night, we sanitized everything and anything we could. More spots appeared.

Sunday, we took her to her PD who confirmed that she had HFMD. We were so worried about Josiah catching it. Faith had one week leave from school. Thankfully, she took very well to her illness. Although feverish, she was still counting her spots, telling us that she couldn't go to school because of her spots. It's amazing how she managed to keep herself happy. =)

Monday, Josiah continued to go to school. I tried to leave him periodically, with each time i left, he screamed himself silly, cried and just wanted to be carried. Nothing and no one could distract him. After he fell asleep, I went off once more. He woke an hour later and could't be consoled. The teacher called me to return because nothing seemed to help.

Tuesday, barely an hour into school, Josiah developed a fever. I had no choice but to take him home. That night, spots started appearing on his ears and hands. We knew he had caught the virus.

Wednesday, the PD confirmed that he had HFMD. We were devastated. Yet another 5 days off from school. We also had our annual family roadtrip to Malaysia on the line. We didn't know if the children would recover in time.

Josiah's spots developed all over his body, and he even had some ulcers in his mouth. Nonetheless, his appetite was not affected, and he was still a happy baby. =)

My dearest aunt who love them so bought them some toys to ease the boredom they felt from not being able to set foot out of the house.

Monday, (11 June), we received the all clear to send them back to school.

Tuesday, both kids went back to school. I kept the boy company till after he fell asleep once more, and left him there till 4. There was no phone call this time, and he was crying and screaming periodically after he woke till the time I came.

Wednesday, I dropped both kids off and left. The boy started crying again, and it was heart-wrenching and painful, but it had to be done. He refused to eat his lunch and to go for a walk with his classmates. But, I managed to catch him playing with his Chinese teacher, and that was very much a comforting sight.

Thursday, the same thing was done. He cried once more, but on this day, he managed to eat a little, and even went for a walk with his classmates this time.

Friday - Sunday, we went for our roadtrip. The kids were as great as they could possibly be even though they were put through much discomfort and disruption to their routine. Then we met with the haze in Klang. It was horrible. The acrid smell in the air and the choking. My throat clammed up and I was down with flu all weekend.

Today, we sent them back to school. Much as they needed the rest, they needed to be put back into their routine as soon as possible for I would be returning to school by Friday. Josiah whined at the doorstep, but he appeared to be fine wen we peeked at him through the window. We decided to leave them there for half the day, then to bring them to the PD to see if they had contracted anything from being exposed to the haze all weekend.

Then, the worst had to happen. Whilst out for breakfast, we received a phone call from the centre. Josiah was having a high fever. We got him home, let him nap, and went to get Faith after she woke. Brought both to the PD. Nothing seemed to be wrong with Faith, and Josiah, despite his cough and fever, the doc couldn't detect the cause. He was sent for a blood test to check for viruses and a flu test to check. The flu test came back positive. The boy is down with influenza.

Another 5 days off from school. How much worse could things get?

So much for settling him during the school holidays. So much for him being almost settled.

I can't help but wonder where the positivity is in all of this.

SIGH
